Safety tips and advise

Never under any circumstance should you try any electrical work without proper training. Make an appointment with a licensed electrician who has the proper training and is up to date with the current codes to fix your electrical problems. Even the simplest repairs or work can lead to injury or worse.

The above diagram shows electrical wires coming and going in and out of the device allowing the electrical currency to flow properly. Each of the se wires is of particular importance and if one was to fail all could fail. Be sure to replace any devices that when attached into a wall and then droop out. When a device does that, it provides a poor connection for the electrical currents and creates heat. Watch for blinking lights on devices that usually do not blink. This could be an indication of a malfunctioning system or a poor connection. This is not to be confused with the dimming or brightening of lights.

The problem of dimming lights is often a problem that is to be left to the electrical company, but can often also be due to poor wiring in the house or the houses main panel. Always be sure to have working smoke detectors in the required locations. Many areas require there to be one in each room a house. A fire detector should be present in the hall outside of rooms and one on each floor of a living area. Make sure one is present in the basement, there also needs to be at least one Carbon Monoxide detector in a living area.

GFCI are required to be in the following locations: kitchen, bathrooms, basements if unfinished, garages and any other outdoor receptacles. GFCI are required to provide shock prevention for the previously mentioned areas.
